Langkawi Waterfalls

By: Macgrath

Langkawi is a nature lover's ideal place for a holiday vacation. One cannot help but feel a sense of excitement when one strolls across some of the most beautiful beaches of Southeast Asia. Langkawi will not disappoint first time as well as repeat visitors with its expansive offerings of sand or surf.

It’s a destination tailor-made for Britons: English is widely spoken, driving is on the left hand side and you’ll find plenty of remnants of the empire, not least in the ‘nowhere like home’ food found widely (although the local cuisine has more to recommend it). Malaysia is friendly, its people good natured – and the temperature stays a more-or-less constant 30°C year round.

Travelers seeking both relaxation and the stimulation of a different culture will find that Malaysia offers the perfect mix of serene coastline and spicy street life. Though Malaysia's beaches are not the most spectacular in Southeast Asia, stretches of coastline on the peninsula's east coast, as well as on islands such as Pangkor and the Pehrentians, offer seaside seclusion that is difficult to find in other parts of the world.

Ideally the island is 500 million old. It has a lot
Ipoh
of unique features. In the island, you can traverse through a number of caves which have stalagmites and stalactites. The crystal clear water around the island makes it an ideal place to organize water sports and other recreational activities. Divers also consider the Langkawi's islands to be the best place for diving.

Heading north on the North-South Highway for 2 hours will get you as far as Ipoh. This city has much to see and do, both in and around it. In the city you can explore both the Old Town and the New Town, which have interesting and contrasting architectural styles. Located just outside the city, you can find such attractions as Kellie's Castle, and the temples of Sam Poh Tong, Kek Lok Tong and Perak Tong; all of which are definitely worth visiting. This city is famous all over Asia for its cuisine, so do try to sample some of the local fare while there!

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia is a cosmopolitan city and the home of world's tallest twin building 'the Petronas Twin Towers'. Another amazing, must see tourist spots in the city are House of Parliament, incredible mosques, Kuala Lumpur Tower, Putra World Trade Centre, Dataran Merdeka, Tugu Negara. For nature lovers and adventurers the states of Sabah and Sarawak is another fabulous destination to visit.

The perfect romantic destination - visualise long white beaches set against a background of lush vegetation, unusual limestone rock formations, sparkling azure waters, secret caves and breathtaking waterfalls. It really doesn't get better than this.

Accommodation prices look very reasonable. Several of the major hotels in Langkawi are just minutes from the race start. However, expect to pay quite a lot for the return flight from North America with gateways from Los Angeles and New York. There is no ferry necessary from the mainland to Langkawi island as they now have their own international airport.

This beautiful country is perfect for a wonderful romantic getaway, speckled with idyllic tropical retreats along its unending coastline and pristine beaches. You can seclude yourself amidst the quaint islands just off the Malaysian coast- from the large and developed island of Penang to Langkawi-the popular choice for sand and surf enthusiasts.
